CHEYNE HORAN, THE FUTURISTIC PILOT.

THE ALTERNATIVE SURF CULTURE

I was in a cybernetic session and found this vintage video of Cheyne Horan. While enjoying this piece of history , my mind was analyzing his futuristic style. His vision of been the pilot of the legendary Geoff McCoy ,who challenge the surfing shaping industry. His creation was the Lazor Zap, a design that was ahead of time. McCoy theory reflects increase surface area and volume. A wide tail, wide outline, rounded nose and the abscence of concaves. Instead he use a domed bottom and round soft rails. Cheyne added the famous winged keel fin, which added drive and lift, imitating the nautic sailing boat discoveries on that time.
For me, Cheyne Horan is the best single fin surfer on modern surfing era. This guy drived the single fin board to a new level in which is very difficult to imitate. His colaboration to surfing should never be forgotten. Mr. McCoy teach us to FREE OUR MIND!; Enjoy.
